Idiotic comment of the Day - Kevin Rudd

Speaking about climate change at the Pacific Islands forum:
"For so many of my colleagues here on the platform before you, this is not just a matter of importance. It is not just a matter of urgency. It is a matter of national survival. The very viability of certain of the island states is at stake."

But how imposing economy-crippling reductions in emissions will help islands that are sinking due to tectonic influences remains to be seen. Unless he's suggesting that evil CO2 affects the earth's crust as well…

Read it here (and enjoy the swipe at Rudd and the fake ETS urgency by Michael Kroger)

  • I used to think that intelligence counted for something in this world, but if you can be Prime Minister and sprout such hyperbole, I'm not sure anymore. These polititicians start their careers largely on moral agendas, and throughout their entire lifetimes never really get that science is not the same as morality.

    I lack faith in humanity.

Still, if the warming is natural some of the islanders may have a little more water over their coral, and have to move their houses a little, or maybe relocate a few thousand or so. Talk about a national emergency. It would cost less than these conferences, and who organised these conferences in the first place? Bureaucrats organising conferences with nothing else to do I suspect.
