Fairfax nails its colours to the mast

Fairfax Media has joined forces with the Marxist environmental group WWF, to organise this year's "Earth Hour":
This year it is aiming for a billion people. WWF Australia, which is organising the event with Fairfax Media, publisher of the Herald, and the advertising agency Leo Burnett, hopes support on that scale will push the world's politicians to reach agreement on climate change in Copenhagen in December.

Given Fairfax's climate alarmist editorial agenda, it should come as no surprise.

  • "Marxist environmental group WWF"

So, Prince Philip, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and 1000, mostly apartheid era, white South African slavers these two European royals recruited to the WWF at the beginning are all Marxists are they?

    Hilarious stuff!

  • You unfortunately miss two points: firstly, that the patrons of an organisation and the organisation itself are distinct, and secondly, that the organisation has changed significantly since its formation in 1961.

The WWF is an organisation which today uses its environmental causes to promote an anti-capitalist, anti-globalisation agenda commonly known as eco-socialism. This is particularly so in the case of climate, where they regularly use misleading or false information to spread climate alarmism, encouraging governments worldwide to increase regulation, taxation and intervention. In that sense, it is an organisation with Marxist ideals.

  • Simon: The leaders and members of the WWF may be many things, but Marxists they certainly are not. The Marxist method, as defined by Marx himself, is rooted in the scientific method. That's why it is also called "scientific socialism". The methods of the WWF, on the other hand, are rooted in pseudoscientific fabrication and Malthusian myth and amount to an attack on science. Clearly, the two approaches stand in opposition to one another.

Marx, incidentally, was among the first to critically attack Malthus’ pamphlet on population, calling it “a libel on the human race.”

    Best wishes, BF
